Who we are:

At Connect, we employ more than 2,000 people in customer care hubs across Australia and New Zealand.  These hubs are on the front lines of our nation’s essential services, and at Datacom we see it as privilege that we can positively contribute to our local communities on such a scale.  Internally within Connect we have a rich and diverse talent pool, and pride ourselves on our commitment to create and nurture local jobs, complete with genuine career progression and upskilling.

Why our jobs matter:

Our Customer Service Representatives provide essential services to people across Australia on behalf of our Australian Federal Government clients – they are the are the first point of contact for so many people in need

We operate a dynamic team environment because we often adapt and morph according to the needs of the government, be it support for COVID, floods, or every day important needs of Australians and New Zealanders.

If you join us, what your day will look like?

You will be receiving inbound calls and resolving enquires related to a variety of government services. You will be able to learn new skills on the job and become skilled in the fundamentals of great customer service – something that will stand you in good stead for wherever your next role takes you

What your roster might look like
Our rosters can be a bit fluid but in general, we can be flexible with your hours and needs.  A typical roster might include working Monday-Friday, 7:30am-7:30pm and sometimes on weekends (but this is optional).

Training commences with all new starters undergoing 6-8 weeks of mandatory full time paid training, Monday to Friday 8:30am -5:00pm.

What we are looking for

At Connect we're looking for people who genuinely enjoy dealing with customers and have the right level of patience and empathy to help others in difficult situations.  As a customer service representative, it is important to understand and recommend the right course of action that will best serve the individual, but of course if more specialised advice is needed, a local specialist will be on hand to help.  To be successful in this role you need to be a team player, enjoy working with others and have proficient verbal and written communication skills

What's in it for you

Connect is a fast paced, friendly and supportive team environment, with flexible hours as well as paid parental leave to help you balance your life and work.   You can build long-lasting friendships, learn practical skills, receive paid training, and even access our extensive (and free) self-training opportunities on your own time if you want to self develop.

Where can you go?
This role is challenging at times, but by default that enables you to develop resilience, patience, and empathy – more specifically, people skills. Most people stay in the role for about 12 months and at that point, are ready for something new.  Therefore, if you stay in the role for about 12 months, demonstrate our company values and want to develop and grow, there are a multitude of roles always available across Datacom. You just have to want the opportunity and it will be there for you – so use this 12 month period to develop the right people capabilities and work with us to find your next opportunity

Are there any special requirements of the jobs

For this particular role Australian Citizenship is essential for Federal Government security clearance requirements. However, not all Datacom jobs require Citizenship so make sure you look at our other roles that do not require you to be an Australian Citizen

Datacom is committed to the health and safety of its people and the wider community. Based on site access requirements for this role, the successful applicant will need to be able to produce evidence of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19, or a valid exemption. Datacom will consider whether any accommodations can be made for candidates who are partially vaccinated (with remaining vaccine doses booked), or who are unable to be vaccinated against COVID-19 and hold a valid exemption.

If you’re looking for meaningful work with genuine career progression opportunities, training and development, we’d love to hear from you.
