The multinational giant which boasts a catalogue of over 400 products such as Dove, Magnum and Lynx completed an 18-month trial of the new work week across its New Zealand businesses.

The trial provided promising data, seeing a 67 percent drop in work-life conflict as well as a 34 percent drop in absenteeism and a 33 percent drop in employee stress.

During the trial, Aussie workers will be able to choose which full day or set of hours to take off, making flexibility achievable for parents and promoting work-life balance.

Nicky Sparshott, the CEO of Unilever ANZ, has highlighted the experiment’s ability to build on the company's ambition to benefit the wellbeing of both its business and workers.

“By removing project processes and protocols that add less value, throughout our week, we are able to free up time to work on items that matter most to the people we serve, externally and internally.”

Staff are set to retain their complete salaries while working 80 percent of the time, with the model still expecting to deliver 100 percent of current business outcomes.

The trial will begin on November 14th and will run for 12 months.
