Over the past 12-months, our SA team has supported many young women looking to commence a School-based Apprenticeship in Non-Traditional Trades, and Lacey Charlton is one of them.

Lacey signing up to undertake a Certificate III Engineering-Fabrication in the Riverland region and decided to become an Apprentice after completing pre-vocational training through her school, where she learned more about the industry.

Lacey fell in love with the workplace and got enthusiastic about building a career in a male-dominated sector.

“I want to train myself before I make waves in the community of other females. I am passionate and enjoy what I do. I want to get as good as I can in this role,” she said. Lacey has the full support of her mum Clare Boyle (pictured left), who says that Lacey will succeed in the field as she is determined and motivated.

Lacey is all set to kick off her training in 2023. She received a contract under mteSA, which has assigned her to work for a highly-profiled engineering firm in Renmark (SA). The company wants to diversify the team and is happy to welcome Lacey on board.

Mas assisted mteSA Field Officer Jess Linsell (pictured right) with mentoring and coaching to ensure that Lacey will receive the maximum exposure to the workplace and industry throughout her training.
