Hiring platform Indeed has released that up to 27 percent of Australians have not updated their CVs for at least a year, and 22 percent are using old or irrelevant information.

While one in three people have admitted that they would rather clean the house or do the laundry than revise their resume, if you want to get that job you need to put it at the top of the priorities list.

Indeed career coach Sally McKibbin says that while employers may be desperate for staff in some sectors, laziness could still cost you the position that you want.

“What if there’s one person that has updated their CV, or has a skill that you haven’t [put on your CV], that gets the interview, or the job?”

Spending ten minutes every now and then saves the job of a full CV overhaul when jobseekers are looking for a career change, instead of waiting until the last second.

Every time you change jobs or learn a new skill, add it to your resume straight away, making sure to list the duties and responsibilities involved.

Then when your dream job pops up, you’ll be ready to make some final tweaks to make your application relevant and hit send!
