Your cover letter should be three concise paragraphs that are engaging and easy to read, embodying who you are, what you care about, and previous skills demonstrating you as a strong candidate.

First step is your header which should include; the date, your name, address and contact info.

Second step is the greeting that needs to address the hiring manager. You can use simple business greetings such as 'To' and 'Dear'. If you can find out their name, that looks extra impressive, if not, you can address them as 'hiring manager' or 'recruitment manager'.

Third step is the opening paragraph, also known as the 'attention-grabber'. As this is the first oppurtunity to talk about yourself in detail,  make sure it’s interesting and keeps the employer interested. In this section, you’ll want to outline why you’re applying for the job and how it aligns with your career goals.

Fourth step is skills and qualifications. This part needs to highlight your most relevant experience and talk about specific skills and qualifications developed that’ll make you the best candidate for the job. Unlike the resume which only includes dot points, your cover letter should elaborate these to give more information about your capabilities. It’s important to note that examples of this are necessary. It’s one thing to state skills, but to explain where and how they were learnt/used will help to increase the likelihood of scoring an interview.

To wrap up the letter, make sure to thank the employer for taking the time to read your cover letter and resume. Final tips: Using an enthusiastic and light hearted tone throughout will keep the reader engaged so use formal tones when addressing the reader, but you can keep it a little more readbale when talking about yourself.
